When I think about class this past week, the MySpace video keeps popping into my head. I think that the movie was a humorous way to illustrate just a few of the stereotypes of websites like MySpace. I liked the part when the guy tried to meet his online girlfriend and she didn't end up being as "hot" as he thought she was. It always amazes me as to how many online dating commercials I see on TV and how many stories I hear about people flying across the country to meet their online love interest. I don't know if any of the real life stories end up like the one in the video, but I can't help but think that not all online encounters are honest.
I especially connected, however with the scene about the password. Even though, as I have expressed before, I am bad at remembering my passwords, I also never give any of my top secret passwords out. The only time I let someone else log into a site for me is if it is a friend that I trust who is logging into my name. Otherwise, I will simply type the password in myself. I don't mean that I cover the keys or treat my passwords like FBI material, but I also do not share my passwords really at all.
That's all I have to say for now.

I agree with you, I thought the myspace video was halarious and was so true! I also do not give my password out to anyone because its just easier not to, just in case something happens.
Jamie,
I thought that the MySpace video made a lot of good points. It was quite humorous, but quite true! I've seen so many of those things acutally happen in real life (just not so dramatically).

I blogged about the same thing this week dealing with the myspace movie. IT was a great way to illustrate how social networks (such as myspace) are such a large part of our lives. I thought it was very appropriate too that this movie was made by a couple of young guys who know EXACTLY what some of these experiences were like. I feel bad for which ever guy experienced the date gone wrong...haha!
I agree with you. Although the video seemed silly and a little bit rediculous, it was very realistic. So many of the things they made fun of really go on in the world of online communication and social networks. I know that I am also guilty of the password scene. I do not want anyone to know my password unless I trust them and I too am guilty of having my bf's password for certain things. :/ I think that the video should all make us take a look at ourselves and ask ourselves "am I really that rediculous when it comes to online communication and social networks?" I think that sometimes people can take social network and CMC too the extreme when it comes to profiles and pictures. The My Space video def did make a lot of good points.
Haha I showed my roommate the first part of the video about the "photo shoot" for his profile picture because her little sister has some pictures that are similar to a few he was taking. The video was so funny but at times so very true of a lot of users!
