This week was short, so I feel like I don't have much to say. We seem to think of CMC in a good light when we think about how it lets us communicate across distances. That is in fact, happening right now. I guess it is strange to think that we are all able to communicate for these blogs when we are at home; not just when we're at school. It's a definate that this class could not have existed say 15 years ago or so.
As far as what we've discussed in class this week, I think the avatars are a little strange. They remind me of the SIMS, which I liked to play until my CD stopped working, but for some reason, avatars online freak me out a little.

I know what you mean about the avatars reminding you of Sims! I thought the same thing when we looked at them in class, but I also agree with you that the avatars are creepier. Personally, I think the Sims are a bit creepy too, but I know some people who play the game constantly, so it must have some appeal to it! Happy Easter :-)
I agree with you about the avatars being a little creepy. However, over break I was editing my myspace page. I added pictures I love, a new layout, a new font, quotes, and celebrities. I also added some clip art that I felt represents me. I realize now how much that is like an avatar. My myspace page is basically just a way of representing myself online, and making myself look the way I want people to think I am.
